I'm introducing my girlfriend to the wolrd of TTRPGs, and we're both soooo excited to try cozy town, it looks beautiful!!! Unfortunately, we're from Brazil and the minimum price (in dollars) is a small fortune here, so we won't be able to purchase it right now. But someday, maybe, and I'm looking forward to it :)
Im a budding game designer with an idea and a tight budget... I feel like this would really help my research! Will there be more Community Copies on the way soon? I'll leave a good review in exchange! 😁
Hihi! I just added a few more copies, but in case you miss them let me know and I can send a download key! I'm happy to share any of my other games with new designers so let me know if you're interested in any others. You can email me at swordqueenggames at gmail and I'll send over the codes <3
Community copies are free so don't feel obliged to leave a review, but I do hope the game helps! I based this design on A Quiet Year by Avery Alder, I also highly recommend checking out her games too.
You have no idea how delighted and excited I am to have access to this, ever since seeing it's praises sung on Dicebreaker. I will definitely email you if I find anything else I'd like to study. Thank you thank you THANK YOU SQUEEEEEEE
Just wondering when will community copies be available? I would love to try with my students whose English is their second language. Most of the students like Animal Crossing so this seems like a wonderful concept to have them speak in English as most of them are quite shy.
Hello! I try to update community copies when I can but they do disappear quickly! I just put in a few more based on sales and ratings, in case you miss it let me know and I'll be happy to send over a download key!
Thank you! I just picked a community copy. It really does look amazing and I cant wait to give it a read and try with some students. Thanks again and I appreciate your time and work very much!! <3
Sorry for the late reply! We just got a bunch of sales recently and I just refreshed the community copies pool! In case you miss it, let me know and I'm happy to send you a download key <3

As of this time it's roughly "at some point in 2023, hopefully", unfortunately! The last six months or so have been especially hard health wise and my productivity output isn't great! I can't afford to hire people to work on it, but I'll post an update when I can. Thanks for asking!
Played my first game with my nieces over Thanksgiving, and now I'm elbow deep in making them a physical copy of the game as a birthday/Christmas gift. Great job all around, for everyone involved.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU TO WHOEVER JUST ADDED COMMUNITY COPIES!!!!
No joke but I've been coming back to this page to stare longingly at the cute art every few days or so for about a week....I did not think I'd actually get a copy! I used to have the old free version but sadly I accidently deleted it awhile ago. I'm so SO happy right now!
So cozy! I plan to print the current pdf before playing. I heard the print version isn't out yet, is the current upload ok to print, or will it get all wonky?! I hope it will be fine :)
such a cute game. thank you, and everyone who bought / rated the game, for making community copies. everything about this, from the events to the colors, was perfectly cozy and adorable. what a blessing of a game ❤
Hi there, I just saw this on an icebreaker video and it looks fantastic. I work at a primary school, do you think I could play this with special needs children? Will there be anymore community copies available? Thanks, Jimmy.
I just went ahead and refreshed our community copies!
I'm not 100% sure if Cozy Town accommodates special needs, though I have heard of folks playing this game at all sorts of schools! Once you've grabbed a community copy please let me know if there's anything I can do to help the game be more inclusive for your students.
Thank you so much! In *case* the community copies run out before you can grab one, let me know and I'll be happy to send over a free download key!
yes! I'll be updating community copies in a bit (it's a manual process unfortunately haha). in case you don't get to them in time let me know and I can set up a free download key for you!
Sorry if I'm being rude, but will there be any community copies available? Looking at all the reviews and comments, I really wanted to try this game but shamefully I can't afford it.
Hello hello! thank you so much for the reminder, I'll go ahead and refresh the community copies! but in case they empty out before you get to it, please email me at swordqueengames@gmail.com and I'll get you a copy! ❤️
I appreciate you asking for a community copy!! ❤️❤️❤️
I really love the cute and cozy vibes of Cozy Town. It is great for an afternoon of fun with friends, or for establishing a fun a friendly town for a larger campaign!
Hi Jamila, I was wondering if there is a specific reason why the game is supposed to be played with 3-6 players. I'm currently wondering if it can be run as a duo game, but maybe there is something I am missing :)
I'd be super grateful to hear your thoughts about it.
Ooh hey I just came here to see if anybody had done it as a duo, 'cause I've got a friend I'd like to play it with! I haven't played it at all yet, so I don't know how hard it would be to tweak any rules.
The game plays perfectly fine as a duo game actually! It's just always nice to have at least a triangle (is that even the right term) of suggestions and opinions, but honestly I've played this as a duo game and lots of people have to <3 I'll mention such in the final version of the game for sure.
Thank you! That was the impression I got upon reading it. It's always nice to have a trio, or larger groups, but that can be difficult to cobble together, and I've been looking for more 2 player games :)
So played it online and we had such a lovely evening playing candy in a giant kitchen kabinet. Especially the summer holidays were such a wholesome story. Love this game.
Recently played this for the first time, and despite it being quite outside of our normal ballpark and having to very consciously repeatedly steer away from adding in lots of decidedly uncozy elements (blame our grimdark-reared brains) had a whale of a time. Heartily recommend.
I absolutely love this cozy game, I started Dm-ing for friends and they are making more stories of their characters. I'm guessing character comics are their next projects.
So Cozy Town is one of those game where playing doesn't need any ressources nor energy, actually it may even restore it !
The game design of it is simple, calming and elegant : create characters, a community and events. But always keep in mind that everything must be COZY.
From cozy tokens to cozy cards (well, I guess the cards are cozy too?), the design layout and art is just way too cute! You can also found greatly written Town oracles that can help you improvise what comes during the weeks.
Thanks to you, I also discovered The Quiet Year, one of the inspirations for this game.
Thank you so much, I'm so glad this game has been a good experience for you! The Quiet Year is a phenomenal game and absolutely inspiring, I'm so glad you discovered it through Cozy Town!
Hello. :) This game is adorable. I noticed what looks like a small error on both the Fall and Winter oracle pages though: They both read "A Time of Reflection" and "Draw from the Clubs suit." I'm guessing it should read "Draw from the Spades suit" for Winter, along with Winter's unique text?
I check back here every so often to see if the last goal and the erratas were uploaded and I'm curious if those are still planned? The last update was from July, it seems.
I'm planning to start up work again on Cozy Town and updating it around Feb next year!
I would have done it sooner but some intense mental health stuff happened around July that took months to recover from, and that slowed down the stretch goals fulfillment. But we should be back on track again soon!
This game is absolutely lovely, I'm looking forward to playing it! The art is wonderful and the game itself has such a great comfy feeling to it, I think I'm going to have a lot of fun both solo and with others.
As well, I wanted to ask, are you ok with the game being used for teaching? My mom has a small class (usually no more than 10 younger students) and would adore using a game like this for teaching interpersonal skills, if you're ok with it I would love to recommend the game to her! If not though, I completely understand. Either way, best of luck! 💖
Thank you so much for the kind words! There's even more lovely art coming and I'm so excited for it <3
And yes, I would be absolutely honored if this game was used for teaching! I used to teach too and I lot of what I learned I applied in this game, I'd love to hear how it goes in class.
That's an awesome perspective to use this game in a teaching environment ! Hope it went well and curious to know how it went/what were advantages/disadvantes of it :D
The solo journaling variant works extremely well! I've been writing about the weeks of a small community of hedgehogs, who have made friends with manatee scientists and deer herbalists. I find this exercise every few days calming, and it is excellent to have a journaling campaign!
Still going, currently in the middle of Fall. A recommendation I have for solo play, as one doesn't have others to take on extra narrative load, is to alter the turn actions a little. So on a turn after playing out the card drawn you can choose one of
grow or change a town feature, as before
have a friend of the town visit as before but without someone leaving the town temporarily
have someone leave the town temporarily
prepare for an event, as before.
When an event does happen, that is a special week without a card draw devoted to the event.
Without these changes the game became too stressful for me as a lone player, even just journaling one turn at a time.
I'm still having an excellent time and will report back after winter.
Cozy Town is a game where you and some friends make a town and residents that make you go *awwwwww*!! I love how cozy this game makes you feel right from the get-go. You're invited to wrap yourself up in blankets and make tea for optimum coziness (would recommend)!
The prompts are quite lovely, and lead to a really beautiful playthrough. Together we made Bloomington, a town of sentient flowers in the garden of a nice old lady (and her cat Clawdius). We didn't play through a whole year, but we saw the town grow so much regardless!
My favourite part was when the seedlings at the greenhouse school held an open day and science fair. They were so proud of their work, and they sang 'from little things, big things grow' :'''') so adorable.
Second favourite moment was when the queen bee of the second bee hive came out as a king bee. He resumes all his duties but is referred to as a king now! (Really liked that prompt, thanks Jammi!)
I also really liked the cozy tokens. The idea of actively appreciating and encouraging the cozy was so sweet! My heart felt very warm and cuddly.
All in all, such a sweet and cozy game. Perfect for a cold inside day so you can snuggle for extra coziness. But totally works in any temperature!
I definitely recommend this game, so wholesome and joyous!
Read through this for Game at a Glance, and highly recommend if you want an uplifting, delightful, narrative experience of exploring a world you and your friends can explore!
Myself and the chat went with making teddy bears that live on leaves!
It just filled me with the warm fuzzies and I cannot get the wait to actually play it.
I bought Cozy Town when the pandemic started. Since then, my significant other and I played it two times. We went with the suggestions: succulents guarding a grove and pigs living on an island.
What a delight! Both session took us several weeks, cause we were enthralled by the drawing part. I never felt this cozy after telling a story. The game also did a great job getting our mind off the current circumstances.
I really recommend this game, especially for everyone, who needs a bit more coziness right now!
That sounds absolutely amazing, I'm so happy to read this! Thank you so much, I'm so glad this sincere little game could help you both create coziness for each other ❤️❤️❤️
Lovely game! Our community of squirrels had a kite festival that was quite marvelous. Just saying. We've saved a few cookies and sweets just for you, enjoy!
Love this! While I lean towards horror games, this is a refreshing change for when you just want to enjoy something delightful. If I could make one humble suggestion, it would be to remove the word “aspiring” from “aspiring game designer” in the credits - many of us aspiring game designers look up to you and your work!
I ran this for my very non-gamer family over a video call, a friend who just had a baby and can only do play-by-post, and am setting this up to run for a group over discord. Fantastic game, 10/10 cozy.

Any news/timeline on a printer friendly version?
Hello!

ooooh I think the margins may be a little funny but fingers crossed that it comes out okay! I think all the text should be within printer bounds?

I highly recommend this adorable worldbuilding game you guys. I have been using Cozy Town as a worldbuilding tool for my Wanderhome and Quest RPG.
I don't have to feel so bad having a subpar drawing skill when building in Cozy Town than most The Quiet Year hacks. Haha.
Awesome game, Rae!

I made a short review video:

oh that's SUCH a good idea for a cozy town, I love that so much!!! Can I use this as an example in the final book?
Yes of course.
Such a fun game.
Oh I just saw the new layout. I love it.
But I also have two questions:
Hi Mario!!! Thank you so much, I had way too much fun with the layout, haha.
To answer your questions (and sorry it took so long!):
1. Yes absolutely! As soon as I have the final version done.
2. I've tried quite a few and my favorite so far is the google jamboard!
Recently played this for the first time, and despite it being quite outside of our normal ballpark and having to very consciously repeatedly steer away from adding in lots of decidedly uncozy elements (blame our grimdark-reared brains) had a whale of a time. Heartily recommend.

Love it. Played it tonight in a play-by-post format with my partner, and it was a cute, cozy, bonding, creative experience that we shared. :3
Aaawww that's so sweet! I'm so glad!
Very cute! Wholesome
